Krishani Patel presents at national conference | Schools – Wilkes-Barre Citizens Voice

Krishani Patel, of Shavertown, was among three Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine medical students, along with two faculty members, who presented at the Sept. 23 “NVivo Virtual Conference.” NVivo is a qualitative data analysis computer software package widely used in academia.

The students, all members of GCSOM’s MD Class of 2023 presented a poster entitled, “A novel use of NVivo for Analysis of Professional Identity Formation ePortfolios in Medical Education,” with faculty members Tanja Adonizio, MD, associate dean for student affairs and assistant professor of medicine, and Michelle Schmude, EdD, associate dean for admissions, enrollment management and financial aid and an associate professor.

The research presented shows that physician career satisfaction is connected with the process of Professional Identity Formation, a crucial component in medical education.
